Tips to save energy

Here are some tips to help you save energy!

Are you looking for ways to save energy and money this year? If so, you're in luck! In this blog post, we will share some tips that should help you accomplish just that. So read on, and start saving!

1. Pair your solar panels with Lucent +

Lucent plus gives you energy efficient LED lightbulbs for your home as well as a smart thermostat with eco mode. You can tell your thermostat when you are leaving your home and it will go into eco mode saving you tons of energy. Doing this will help make your home much more energy efficient.

2. Make sure you’re turning off unnecessary lights!

LED lightbulbs will help but you should still be turning off lights you aren’t using. Use natural light during the day.

3. Take shorter showers

We know you love spending way too much time in the shower singing your fav song with an invisible microphone but you can also do that in your kitchen (however, you probably won’t sound as good.) Still worth saving money every month.

4. Unplug electronics that you aren’t currently using

Even if you aren’t watching your TV or charging your phone, if it’s plugged into the wall it’s using energy.

5. Run full loads of laundry

If you’re like me, you want to wash all of your dirty laundry as it gets dirty and you end up putting 6 articles of clothing through the wash. This isn’t efficient at all. I know it can be difficult but waiting until you have a whole laundry basket full can save you $18 a year on energy.

6. Be efficient with your refrigerator

Maintain clean, air-tight refrigerator door seals to keep the cold air in and warm air out. It takes so much energy to try to cool your fridge down again.

7. Peak hours with solar power

If you have solar panels, try to consume as much of your power throughout the day to maximize peak hour performance. This will minimize how much energy you pull from the grid at night. With the Enlighten app, you can actually create custom reports that will show you the best time of day to complete all of your daily tasks.
